Bishops were engaged by the lead Mechanical Contractor to carry out the grouting of the Te Mihi power station mechanical equipment.

A 166MW net output was achieved from a twin turbine and generator system. Te Mihi was constructed to replace the world's second largest power station – the 50 year old Wairakei Power Station.

Items to be anchored included:

- Condensers

- Hotwell pumps

- Vacuum and various other system integrated pumps

- Separator and scrubber vessels

- Main steam line supports

- Various other pipe supports

Approx. 50M3 of grout was installed over a 14 month period.

Other geothermal power stations that Bishops have been involved with are Mercury’s Kawerau (95MW output For Fuji Electric), Nga Awa Purua (145MW for Fuji Electric) and Nga Tamariki (85MW for Ormat Technologies) power stations.

The scope of works for these plants was similar to Te Mihi and also included foundation construction.
